College Grants or Scholarships for Creative Writing

More and more creative writing and journalism scholarships are made available for women pursuing a higher level of education. The scales had tipped since the 1970s when there were equal amounts of men and women attending college in America. Now, there are more women attending college and universities than men.
Numerous aspects are taken into consideration when rewarding financing for studies. Such elements include; financial need, age, race, ethnicity, and academic standing.
Writing and Journalism Scholarships for Women
Men still dominate journalism to a great extent. Because of this, many organizations offer grants and scholarships in journalism just for women.
The Association for Women Journalists-Chicago
This organization provides financial aid accessible to women only. These include the Association for Women Journalists-Chicago Scholars Programm, which offers a $1 500 award per year for women living in the Chicago area, and the Joy Darrow Memorial Scholarship.
New York Women in Communication Foundation Scholarship Program
This foundation offers scholarships from $2 000 up to $10 000 for women in their last year of high school, busy with undergraduate and graduate studies. Beneficiaries need to have a GPA of 3.2 or higher and live in either New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania.

National Association for Black Journalists
The NABJ offers numerous writing scholarships to its members. All scholarships require students to be in a recognized college or university and pursue a career in journalism. The NABJ awards the following scholarships:
1. The NABJ New Corporation High School Scholarship
This scholarship goes to high school seniors who are members of the NABJ and hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher,r and must exhibit financial need.
2. Les Payne Founder’s Scholarship
To obtain this writing scholarship, all students need is a minimum GPA of 3.0. The award of the scholarship is $2 500.
3. Larry Whiteside Scholarship
Experience in journalism is necessary to get this scholarship of $2 500. Students must be pursuing a career in sports journalism and have a minimum GPA of 2.5. They prefer seniors, but juniors can also apply.
4. Dewayne Wickham Founder’s High School Scholarship
This scholarship to the value of $2 500 is awarded to high school seniors who maintain a GPA between 2.5 and 3.0.
5. Carole Simpson Scholarship
The Carol Simpson Scholarship is for students who have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and must be graduate or undergraduate students majoring in broadcast journalism. They give an award of $2 500 per year.
6. Allison E. Fisher Scholarship
The Allison E. Scholarship gives funding of up to $2500 per year. Students must have a stable GPA of 3.0. and open to graduate and undergraduate students.
Regional Writing Scholarships
Here are many scholarships that are available in specific regions of America:
Valley Press Club Scholarships
There are five of these scholarships available and amount to $1 000 each. High school seniors living in western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut are eligible for these scholarships.
Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship Fund
To qualify for the Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship Fund, students must reside in King, Snohomish, or Pierce County in Washington State. Also, they must desire to complete a four-year degree in journalism at a recognized university in Washington.
KATU Thomas R. Dargan Scholarship
The KATU Thomas R. Dargan Scholarship awards $6 000. It is available to students in the minority who reside in Washington or Oregon. Students must be attending a recognized school, be on a sophomore or higher student status, and have a stable minimum GPA of 3.0.
Specific Journalism Scholarships
These journalism scholarships require specific qualifications and aim to offer women from particular backgrounds or women with specific skills in uncommon areas. The following are only a fragment of the scholarships available:
International Foodservice Editorial Council Scholarship
Scholarships range from $500 to $4 000 and go to students pursuing a career in foodservice journalism. To qualify, not only do students need to attend an accredited university or college, but they must have experience working in foodservice journalism.
Edna R. Anthony Memorial Scholarship
High school seniors with a GPA of 2.5 or higher and attend a Historically Black College or University. The awarded amount of the scholarship is $500.
American Copy Editors Society Scholarship
The American Cope Editors Society awards five scholarships to eligible students. One scholarship of $2 500 and four scholarships of $1 000 are rewarded to juniors, seniors, and graduate students who exhibit academic excellence and have outstanding letters of recommendation.
