The Florida Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) program supports low-income qualified families with minor children through temporary financial assistance.
TCA is available to pregnant women in their third trimester and cannot work, and to pregnant women in the 9th month of pregnancy.
The program requires adults available to work to participate in work-related activities through the Welfare Transition Program (WTP). The program aims to lead families towards self-sufficiency.

How can I get cash assistance in Florida?
Start your application online through Florida’s self-service web-based application, ACCESS Florida. But, only U.S. citizens or qualified non-citizens individuals can apply. Moreover, individuals must live in the state of Florida.
An automated eligibility process will determine if you qualify. There will be an interview for determining your family’s eligibility for the program. Call 1-866-762-2237 for updates on the status of your application.
What are Eligibility Rules for Florida Cash Assistance?
Time Limits – Cash assistance is limited to a lifetime total of 48 months. Except for child only cases, which have no time limit.
Work Rules – Some people must participate in work activities unless they meet an exemption.
Income and Deductions – Gross income must be less than 185% of the Federal Poverty level. Moreover, countable income can’t be higher than the payment standard for the family size. In short, individuals get a $90 deduction from their gross earned income.
SSN – Individuals must provide a Social Security Number or proof they have applied for one.
Assets – A family’s countable assets must be equal to or less than $2,000. Licensed vehicles needed for individuals subject to the work requirement may not exceed a combined value of $8,500.
Relationship – A child must be living in a home maintained by a parent or a relative who is a blood relative of the child.
Child Support Cooperation – The parent or the caretaker relative of the children must cooperate with child support enforcement. These also include identifying and locating the parent(s) who do not live in the child’s home. Or, proving a child’s legal relationship to their parent and to get the court to order child support payments.
Immunization – Children under age 5 must be up to date with childhood immunizations (shots).
Learnfare – Children aged 6 to 18 must attend school. Besides, parents/caretakers must attend school conferences.

A family of three receives $303 monthly cash assistance for up to 48 months. However, there may be exceptions in the face of severe hardships.
The Up-front Diversion Program provides a one-time payment for up to $1000 to families in need of short-term help rather than long-term ongoing cash assistance.
