What You Should Know About EBT in Utah?

Utah’s Food Stamp Program (or SNAP) is the first line of defense against hungry people. SNAP offers monthly benefits to eligible families in order to purchase sufficient food supplies through an EBT card, the Utah Horizon Card. This card is accepted at most grocery shops.
Although anyone can apply for SNAP benefits. The program is primarily intended to assist those most in need of food assistance — single parents, low-income families, elderly and people with disabilities.
Eligibility Requirements for EBT in Utah
- Living in Utah
- US Citizen, or a lawful permanent residence
- Have proof of identity
- Follow certain income guidelines
- You have less than $2,250 of resources
SNAP recipients between 16 and 59, who aren’t pregnant or disabled, must register for, search for, and approve a DWS employment plan to continue to receive their benefits. ABAWDs are required to follow special work rules in order to receive SNAP receipts within three months.
Income Limit
Utah’s most eligible families have a gross income of at least 130% of the federal poverty line, which is approximately $2,380 per month for a family with three children. They are eligible for food stamps.
Application Process for EBT in Utah
You can Apply for SNAP Online or in Person at an Employment Center near you. Then, access your SNAP benefits within 30 days if you are eligible. You may be eligible for Expedited Supplemental Nutrition Assistance in 7 days if you live in a household earning less than $150 per month and have less cash than $100.
If they meet certain criteria, students between the ages of 18-49 may be eligible for food stamps. To find out if you are eligible for food assistance through SNAP, consult your eligibility specialist.
