Application For Food Stamps In Louisiana
To apply for benefits, first create an account online for LACAFE at the DCFS website. Then complete an electronic application. If applicable, a DCFS staff member will call you to schedule an interview.
You will receive a Louisiana Purchase Card if you are eligible for SNAP. Monthly SNAP benefits will automatically be deposited into your account.

Once DCFS has received your application, a worker will assign you to determine your eligibility. DCFS will notify you by mail within 30 days after receiving your enrollment form. The letter will let you know if you are eligible and the amount and start date of your benefits.
Approval Duration
After receiving an approval for your SNAP, your benefits will be available within 30 days of the date that the office received your application. In certain cases of emergency, your benefits may be available within seven days.
Income Guidelines For SNAP In Louisiana
Food assistance is available to most families with a gross income of up to 130% of federal poverty level (or $2,380 per month for a family three).
