The Kansas Successful Families Program program provides temporary monthly cash assistance for up to 24 months to low-income families with minor children.
Kansas allows requests for hardship extensions and provides a 12-month extension for benefits.
The Successful Families Program requires work-eligible applicants to participate in work-related activities. Failure to do so will waive the benefits including child support.

Cash Assistance – known as Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). This include the Work Incentive payment and the Grandparents as Caregivers (GPCG) program.
- Cash – Monthly TANF benefit.
- Work Incentive Payment – This payment is designed for those cases where ineligibility for TANF exists due to excess income when earned income is involved.
- Grandparents as Caregivers (GPCG) – The GPCG program is funded by the TANF Block Grant. It gives financial assistance to grandparents or other qualifying relatives raising children. But only if certain eligibility requirements are met including income and resource guidelines. Income and resource guidelines only apply to the child(ren). Moreover, grandparents or other qualifying relatives do not have to provide verification of their own income or resources.
