Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) for Single Mothers
The SNAP contributes to food purchases of qualified low-income single mothers and families. Recipients get their benefits through an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card, which is used to buy food from retail groceries. The card cannot be used for hot meals ready to eat, food to be cooked and eaten in the store, soap products, paper products, tobacco, alcohol, and pet food. There are community gardens and food pantries that you can go to for more assistance.

Telephone Discount for single parents
Lifeline, a federally funded program that gives discounts on monthly local telephone bills of qualified single mothers. The main telephone is the only one that can be used for LifeLine.
