Cash Assistance for Single Mothers
Personal Opportunities With Employment Responsibilities (POWER) is Wyoming’s version of TANF. It serves individuals with work and at least one dependent child.
Help with Food
Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP) provides households in need with nutritional food. The Emergency Food Assistance (TEFAP) is the government’s support for Wyoming organizations that provide food for the needy. A list of food programs and pantries can be found here and here.
Help with Shelter & Housing
The Homeless Services Program provides a list of assistance programs that helps with rent, emergency shelter, and other housing related needs here. The US Dept. of Housing and Urban Development provides statewide programs that offer homeowner assistance here.
Help with Energy
Low Income Energy Assistance (LIEAP) offers help to single mothers with their heating whether they use electricity, natural gas, propane, wood, diesel heating oil, coal, or pellets. The service only covers months from November to June. The Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) also provides weatherization programs to lessen heating bills for households.
Help with Telephone Bills
Wyoming’s Telephone Assistance Program (TAP) is eligible to those who received other assistance programs like SNAP, LIEAP, Medicaid, etc. It offers discounts to help you maintain your phone, landline, cable, or cell phone.
Childcare assistance for Single Mothers
The Child Care Subsidy Program provides help to eligible parents who are working or studying with paying for childcare.
Help with Medical Care
Wyoming Medicaid provides cheap but quality healthcare for single mothers. The Kid Care CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) provides affordable healthcare for children. The Maternal and Child Health Unit provides an array of programs for mothers and the child they bear. Nonprofit Expert provides a list of organizations that provide grants to individuals who face serious medical issues.

Legal Aid of Wyoming provides eligible single mothers with free legal assistance and representation. You may apply by calling 1-877-432-9955 or visit their main office at Cheyenne or their other offices at Casper, Lander, Rock Springs and Gillette.
